FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR FROM PHOTO DESIGNS
What kind of photo works best?
Photos taken at your pet's eye level, with good natural lighting, generally give us the best results. We've also put together a Photo Guide with a few extra tips, which you'll find linked in each of our From Photo product listings. We know some of the most meaningful photos are also the blurry ones, the old printed ones or the ones taken long before smartphone cameras existed. If you're unsure, you're welcome to email your photo to info@miacooperandco.com.au before ordering. We'll happily take a look and let you know what's possible.
Can you design pets other than dogs & cats?
Absolutely! While dogs and cats make up a large part of our work, we're not limited to just those two. From horses and rabbits to birds and other much-loved animals, our From Photo collection is designed to celebrate pets of all shapes and sizes. Every design is created individually from your chosen photograph, so we're not restricted to a particular breed or animal. If you're unsure whether we can create something for your pet, just get in touch and we'll happily discuss what's possible.
Can I include two pets in the same piece?
Absolutely. We can include multiple pets in the one design, whether they're together in the same photo or you'd like us to bring them together from separate photos. As working with multiple pets or combining photographs involves more design work than our standard From Photo products, these pieces are quoted individually. Simply head to our 'Request a Quote' page and tell us a little about what you have in mind. Our designer will look over your photos, discuss what's possible and provide a personalised quote.
Can I add a name or personal message to my design?
Of course. Many of our From Photo pieces can be personalised with names, dates or a short message, depending on the design and available space. Our designer will consider how your chosen wording can be incorporated without compromising the overall appearance of the piece or the details of your original photograph. If you have something particular in mind that isn't covered by the personalisation options on the product page, you're always welcome to get in touch and we'll happily discuss what's possible.
Can your metal portraits and memorials be displayed outdoors?
Yes. All of our pieces are made from steel and designed with Australian conditions in mind. Whether you choose to display your piece indoors or outdoors is entirely up to you, as all MCC finishes are suitable for either setting. The only exception is our raw steel option, which we offer to customers who prefer to arrange their own painting or powder coating. Keep in mind that untreated raw steel will naturally rust when exposed to the elements.
How long does it take to make my custom from photo piece?
Every From Photo piece is individually designed and made to order, with our usual turnaround time being approximately 3–4 weeks. This includes around one week for our graphic designer to create your initial proof, followed by production once you've approved the artwork. As we're a small Australian business creating each piece individually, we recommend ordering early if your memorial or portrait is intended as a gift for a particular occasion.
