BEHIND THE NAME IS A STORY
Behind the story are two dogs who changed everything

Where it all began.
Mia was our rescue girl. And the reason MCC exists.

When we lost her in 2021, we went looking for something to honour her, something that felt true to who she was and the life she lived with us. Everything we found focused on the ending. Headstones. Urns. Nothing that captured the dog we knew and loved.

So we made it ourselves.

That first piece was just for us. But friends and family started asking for their own, and without realising it, Mia had inspired the beginning of what would become Mia Cooper & Co.

Our gorgeous girl remains the heart behind everything we create.

And then there was Cooper
An independent spirit who marched to the beat of his own drum. A lover of anything edible, and sometimes things that weren't. Sadly Cooper passed away earlier this year. Almost 17 years old, our family's rock, and the dog our business carries its name for.

Losing him changed something for us.

Not just in the way grief always does, but in what it showed us about how little support exists for people going through it. How few resources there are that feel human rather than clinical. How much people need a space that takes pet loss seriously and doesn't ask them to justify how hard it is.

Cooper is why our blog exists. He's why we've become increasingly passionate about normalising pet grief and helping families navigate saying goodbye. He showed us that MCC was always about more than the memorials.

Cooper isn't just part of our name. He's part of our purpose.

And today... These days the studio runs with two doggos firmly in charge.

Henley supervises from the doorway. Harper (being the typical Kelpie he is) supervises from directly on top of whatever you're trying to do. Between them, no workday is ever quiet.

They're the reason we talk about the pets still beside us just as much as the ones we've lost. Grief and joy aren't opposites. Most of the time, they sit in the same room.

You'll spot them on our Instagram @miacooperandco and Facebook pretty regularly. They've never complained about the camera and they’re a reminder that while we honour the pets we’ve lost, we also celebrate the ones still by our side.

Why we do what we do?
Made by pet lovers, for pet lovers
We know what it's like to stand in a pet store staring at generic memorials, feeling like none of them come close.
That gap is what led us here.
Every piece we make is personal because it has to be...
because your dog, cat, horse, or rabbit wasn't generic either.

Mia Cooper & Co is proudly designed and made in Australia by a small family team who understand just how much pets mean to their families. This business exists because of Mia & Cooper, and continues every day thanks to the love we share with Henley and Harper.
Every piece we create is a continuation of that story.
