How Loving Mia & Cooper Shaped What We Do
Behind every piece we create & every word shared sits a story that began long before this journal existed.
It’s not just the story of a business. It’s really a story about the animals who changed the way we understand love, grief, and the quiet moments that sit somewhere in between.
Mia was where everything began. Life with her was full of the small routines and familiar moments that slowly become part of everyday life. Her personality filled our home in ways that felt so normal at the time that we never imagined what the silence would feel like without her.
When we said goodbye to Mia, that silence was hard to put into words. Like many people who lose a beloved pet, we found ourselves looking for something that helped her still feel close to us. Something that acknowledged the place she had in our lives and the love that didn’t disappear when she did. From that place, Mia Cooper & Co slowly came to life. It wasn’t created as a business plan or a new venture. It simply grew from the desire to create something meaningful for others who were facing that same kind of loss.
Cooper was there through all of it. As the business slowly found its feet, he remained a steady and familiar presence through the ordinary days, the busy periods and the quiet ones in between. His companionship was simply part of life, something we rarely stopped to think about.
That was until recently, when we said goodbye after sixteen beautiful years together.
Losing Cooper brought a different kind of understanding to the work we do. It reminded us that being close to grief doesn’t make it easier when it becomes your own again. Every goodbye is different. Each one carries its own weight and leaves its own mark.
Over the years we’ve been trusted with the stories of so many families remembering their pets. Every message we receive, every photo shared, every piece created offers a glimpse into the bond between people and the animals who walk beside them. What we’ve come to understand is that pet grief doesn’t look the same for everyone. For some people it’s quiet and private. For others it’s something they need to talk about openly. But underneath every story sits the same simple truth - the love people have for their pets runs far deeper than many realise.
This journal exists because of those shared experiences. It isn’t here to offer perfect words or tidy answers. Instead, it’s simply a space where the reality of loving and losing pets can be spoken about honestly. A place where grief doesn’t have to be rushed, and where remembering can feel gentle and natural.
Mia and Cooper remain part of everything we do. Not only in name, but in the way they shaped how we see the bond between people and their animals. Their presence continues quietly through the work we create and the stories we are trusted to hold.
These days our home is also shared with Henley and Harper, whose energy and gentle chaos remind us that love doesn’t belong to just one chapter of life. They don’t replace what came before. Nothing ever could. Instead they sit alongside those memories, bringing light into a space that has also known deep loss.
This space simply reflects that journey as it exists today. A life shaped by Mia and Cooper, carried forward with Henley and Harper, and grounded in the understanding that loving animals means holding both joy and grief at the same time.
And like all stories shaped by the animals we love, it continues quietly, one day at a time.
